New Challenges of Modern Chinese Studies

The ultimate goal of the research program is to continue efforts toward building Modern Sinology as a new academic field that goes beyond traditional Sinology. To fulfill that goal, three research panels were organized to study Chinese politics and foreign diplomacy, the Chinese economy and environment, and Chinese culture and society. Researchers from Japan and abroad are conducting joint studies on an international scale. Based on a methodical approach to Modern Sinology, various development activities are being explored in international research on China, which studies various trends developing overseas in modern Sinology in the areas of application and development.
